    Payno's Aquarium

Post by Payno on Tue Sep 15, 2009 3:37 pm

Ive kept various different aquariums for about 5 years now and I've almost completed my newest set up.

It's quite a time consuming and frustrating hobby but still satisfying and rewarding when it all 'goes right'. It's all about getting the correct balance of things. One incorrect fish, plant or even a slight change in the PH of the water can destroy an entire set up over night, which as I have found out can be pretty costly. This one seems ok so far though.

Here's a short video of what I have so far:

    In there I have:

3 Pakistani Loaches. Also called Yoyo loaches because of the pattern on them. They are the 3 really active ones. Always have these in my tanks as they are compatible with pretty much everything and also clean the tank and eat unwanted inhabitants such as snails.

    2 Orange Platies.

2 Penguin Tetras. Difficult to see as they are quite small. I'm gonna add more of these as they look great when they shoal together.

2 Angel fish. They are the slow moving triangular shaped ones. They will grow by 5 times the size they currently are over the next 6 months or so.

1 black Molly. I brought him by mistake. He was a tiny baby in the shop and the girl who served me didnt realise that she put him in with the platies.

All plants are real. Helps oxygenating the water and provides another food source for the fish.

I'll be adding some more fish soon hopefully and will put up a better quality video with them in.

I have a bucket that I use for the water changes. My dad decided to use it to clean the car one day without telling me. Needless to say, the next time I used it, it killed pretty much everything in the tank.
